A LAMP UNTO MY
FEET

ONLINE SERMONS
"Thy word," wrote the Psalmist, "is a lamp
unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Ps. 119:105). Have you ever considered the significance of this
illustration?
The Psalmist calls God's Word both a lamp and a light. In this verse, the terms "light" and "lamp"
are not synonymous. Each word reveals a distinct function of the Word of God. First, it is a lamp unto my
feet. This lamp does not show the whole road. Like a candle, the Word of God shines sufficient light to show
you where to place your next step but no more. "Take therefore no thought for the morrow," said Jesus, for the
morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof" (Matt. 6:34).
But God’s Word is also a light
unto my path. Picture yourself as a person trying to find
his way through a dense forest on a moonless, starless night. Because of the lamp of God's Word, you are
able to walk along a sure path. But what is that bright light shining in the distance? It is "a light unto my
path." In the same way the star over Bethlehem guided the wise men on their journey to see the Christ, the light of
God's Word helps you to see your destination and set your course.
With this picture in mind, we are truly pleased to present the sermons found
in these pages. It is our prayer that through these messages Jesus Christ - the "light of the world" - will be
magnified. May the word of the Lord illuminate your pathway and give you the direction you need
to find your way through every situation you face.
