WILL YOU BE COMFORTED?

By Rev. F. Jay Pearson

John 14:15-16
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Today will you be comforted? As a Christian, it’s your choice. You decide. Today life situations are complicated and coming at you with alarming speed. It’s one thing to multi-task delightful things. It’s quite another thing to multi-solve what life throws at you. You need another shoulder to help bear life’s situations. We need someone to care for us.

1 Peter 5:6-7
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

John 14:18
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Humility and willingness to accept your Savior's help is a good starting point for deliverance from your life’s situations. Will you be comforted? You decide. You’ve been given the ability to smile. You’ve also been given the ability to frown, you decide.

Psalm 77:2
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.

When one chooses to be comforted there is great peace.

Psalm 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Will you be comforted? Will you call on the Lord for your deliverance and be comforted by his comforter, the Holy Ghost?

John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

I have a comforter in the closet I pull out occasionally on a cold night. It’s a great comfort to me at times. I could just shiver my way through the night or get up and go get the comforter in the closet and put it on. It’s my choice. In the question of receiving the Holy Ghost, you decide. It is our responsibility to accept the Lord’s hand and choose to be comforted. Jesus provided the comforter for you and I to help us bear up under life’s difficult and challenging situations. The world around us will offer a distraction in the place of our comforter. The distractions are a quick fix, but fade away fast. Designed to cover up your problems and sweep them out of sight. The world will offer you something shinny and smooth, something easy and quick, but deceiving.

I remember the first time I was near a few large stingrays in the Caribbean. They look so shiny and smooth but when I run you hand down its spine it was like a razor. False comfort is like that. In the end cutting deep into your heart and make merchandise of you. The Lord’s comforter is a true and faithful companion to carry your load to victory.

Hebrews 12:1-2
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

What victory, what an example. Will you be comforted? Right now, whatever is on your heart, take a moment and cast your care to the Lord. Seriously, right now give it to the Lord, and don’t take it back. Yes, not out loud, but to yourself. Trust in him. He is faithful with the ability to deliver you right not in any situation. Run with patience now and wait on the Lord to be your comfort.

John 14:23
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Will you be comforted? You decide. Jesus gave. We need to receive.

Psalm 32:7-8
7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Empty your heart to the Lord this hour. Don’t take it back. Will you be comforted? You decide.
