The House of God

Presented by Rev. Todd Pekel

The House of God, scripturally speaking, refers to any number of things. To a startled from sleep Jacob, it was a place where angels ascended and descended to and from the gate of heaven.

To Moses, Joshua and the children of Israel it was a tabernacle in the wilderness with rules and rituals that included animal sacrifices and ceremonial washings.

To David and his son Solomon, The House of God was meant to be a permanent place for God to dwell. It was a building of stone and timber built by the world’s best craftsman and dedicated with a special sign of God’s presence and glory.

During the ministry of Jesus here on earth, this structure was supposed to be known as a house of prayer, but ended up being called a den of thieves.

Indeed, throughout the scriptures we find a number of references to what is called the House of God… but what is it, really?

This seven to eight hour class, endeavors to answer the above question from a Christ-centered, biblical perspective. From pictures of Christ in the Old Testament to their fulfillment in His life and ministry all the way through until time is no more and the Son offers up the Kingdom so that God will finally be, ‘all in all.’

In this class you’ll see Jesus Christ as the spiritual rock of eternity. He is also presented as eternity’s foundation. Next, you’ll see Him as the chief corner stone of God’s eternal structure. From chief corner stone throughout all the members built up as lively stones, you’ll then see him as head of the structure, his body.

In a broader perspective he is presented as THE eternal temple of God. He also is seen as the door to God’s eternal abode. Finally, he is presented as the eternal High Priest over God’s household.
