What Christian Life Teachings International
Has Meant to Me

By Merceline Tiang'a

John Robert OpioThanks to the Lord for bringing pastoral training to the outskirts of our towns. This great miracle was brought right to my hands like a cup of water to my mouth. Receiving such knowledge was a dream that I never thought would be possible because of my financial status. The work of Christian Life Teachings International came as a great solution to my thirst. Sincerely, for many of us the fees and requirements of other colleges for Bible School are far too expensive. I felt God’s favor in this area because CLTI has enabled me get the greatest thing I ever thought of in my life. It has taught me of humble service.

The Goal – Better Understanding of the Biblical Principles relating to the Pastor and his Responsibilities – came true to me. Realizing that Christian Education rises and falls at the pastor’s feet was an eye-opener to my ministry. Even though I tried to rely on the Holy Spirit to guide me, ignorance and lack of revelation knowledge made me miss a certain level of operation in the ministry. Interacting with knowledgeable people in today's digital world was not an easy thing for me. But now I can sit at the same table with those I once feared, and I can reason together with them and even challenge their views. I now understand why knowledge is so important. I can well apply the Biblical principles relating to a minister, and have the best relationship possible with my family as a wife, as a pastor, and with the community and nation as a whole.

Administration is a challenge that has led to the failure of many ministries. Realizing who is who, and where he/she can work best is now an easy application through this ministry. Just like David was ignored and considered to be just a shepherd in the bushes when Samuel came to his father’s house, people often look at the wrong things when assigning helpers, and end up putting people in positions not meant for them. Dealing with conflict in management in a positive way was another uplifting lesson that I will not forget.

Bible Study was another challenge to me but God be praised, the Bible has become so sweet for me to read everyday for new revelation. Learning why some books were written, when they were written and by whom; the journeys of the Lord’s servants like Paul and Peter – these things brought joy and encouragement to my heart. Even though tough times may come, with God none of them can destroy me. I press on.

Interpretation of verses, how to prepare sermons, and public speaking were the greatest of all because practical ministry revolves around these things. The lesson of Doctrines is an essential topic because so many false doctrines have come up and we can easily fall in the enemy’s traps. It requires alertness in spirit and the help of the Holy Spirit to be safe.

Doctor John, you have been a spiritual model to me by your love, patience, kindness, and great understanding that is rarely seen in our fellow brothers and sisters. You come down to the levels that one cannot imagine just to ensure that we get what God intends for us. You never show any signs of self-justification or self-exaltation as many are want to do. You fit in all classes of people; this is actually the face of Christ among us. This is a fact pastor, believe me. Meeting you has been a great thing; I am inspired every day by your example. I also want to mention Reverend Tim who taught me another level of humility and faith, I can’t forget this.

Blessings as you extend this work to many,
Tiang'a Merceline
